omg I do not think I've ever seen my heart beat so fast and strong out of my chest

My boyfriend’s heartbeat white I steth him before going to bed ❤️💗

Stethoscope examination of my boyfriend’s heart, it’s skipping a bit and i wanted to stream it while we fall asleep

Taking turns listening to his heartbeat and mine

Heart pounding and changing speeds during breath holding

Stething myself with a shot glass after smoking and holding my breath

Stethoscope Auscultation during a long breath hold

Such beautiful visible and fast heartbeat! I love it a lot!

Self-stething my slower heartbeat 💗

today I learned that notifications are off for this blog even though I expressly turned them on YAY. so I’ve missed a lot of replies… We weren’t ignoring anyone! tumblr just ate all of our notifications ;-; I’ll get started replying to those after I finish with a little bit of school work!!

(just a teeny drabble to prove I’m not dead since I’m stuck in bed grumpy and coughing my lungs out again -_- these are based on a couple of ocs of mine that are close but ultimately platonic. idk how much I’ll be using them in the future since there isn’t a lot of fun heart stuff in their story but I mean… this was really fun to write so we will seeee. feel free to ask me about them!!)

She was standing at her desk, peering over a multitude of old maps and weathered books when he walked into the back room. There wasn’t an inch of wood to be seen; the entire desk was covered in tattered paper. Curiously, he noted that she didn’t turn to him, or even raise her head to note his entrance. It was unlike her to be ignorant of her environment, especially considering her constant vigilance as of late. As he watched an unseen wind mindlessly ruffle the papers on the desk, he was struck with the sneaking suspicion that she was nearing a collapse. Again.

He cleared his throat and stepped towards her, taking care that his movements weren’t silent as they usually were. She still hadn’t moved when he reached her. He wrapped his arms around her, one looped across her waist to hold her close, one hand against her chest. She instantaneously tensed — he could feel her go rigid, ready to grab the nearest sharp object to fend him off if needed — but then she realised who it was, and relaxed with a sigh.

“Been a while,” he murmured. She nodded, melting into his embrace.

He suddenly realised he could feel her pulse, and it concerned him. It was far too fast and fluttery to be normal, especially at rest, he frowned and gently moved his hand to feel it better, pulling her closer. They stayed like that for a while; she either didn’t notice his impromptu examination or didn’t care to challenge him. His eyes floated to the clock on the wall.

“118,” he said, breaking the silence. She sharply inhaled, and her heart rate soared. Usually, he would tease her for her reactivity, but now it just worried him even more. “You overdid it again, didn’t you?”

For a moment, she was silent. He loosened his grip, but he could still feel her shiver. Then, she let out a shaky sigh. “I didn’t mean to,” she croaked. “I guess I got carried away.”

It was all he needed to hear. He led her to the couch and sat her down, his worry continuing to grow when she didn’t fight him or try to insist it was fine. She looked utterly exhausted, and he mentally cursed himself for not having the foresight to bring his bag. He kept one hand clasped around her wrist, noting with disdain that her heart rate was still much too fast for his liking.

“Are you having trouble breathing?” he asked, running his hands along her ribs to check them for further damage.

“Not any more than usual.”

“Coughed up anything?”

“…No.” He gave her a pointed look. “…A little bit…”

“You have to be more careful,” he said, but there was no anger behind his words. She nodded absently. “Hey, look at me.”

She met his gaze, eyes dim and tired. He hadn’t seen her like this, devoid of her usual firebrand spirit, in quite some time. Gods, it was as if she had the entire world resting in her shoulders, and it was terrifying.

“Promise me you’ll be a little more careful?” he asked softly.

“I’ll try my best.” She smiled, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes. They both knew that she could be careful all she wanted, but the risk was always there. “I promise.”

He nodded, taking her wrist and looking again at the clock. “105. Better, but not great.” She shrugged and leaned back against the arm of the couch. “Why don’t you get some rest for now? I highly doubt you’ve slept at all for the last few days.”

“You wound me sir,” she deadpanned. “How dare you assume I’m so irresponsible?”

“I’m right, aren’t I?”

“…Maybe.”

He laughed and ruffled her hair as he stood, grinning at the glare she sent his way as she tried to fix her wild curls. There was a blanket in a wicker basket under the coffee table, which he grabbed and unfolded. “Get some sleep. I can take care of the shop for now,” he said, laying the blanket on top of her.

“Shop’s closed for the day. You can stay here, if you’d like.”

He didn’t miss the pleading tone behind her words. “I’ll be right here, then. I’m sure you’ve got an interesting book around here somewhere.”

She laughed weakly and closed her eyes. Within minutes, she was asleep. He watched her for a while — night terrors were common among the both of them — and, convinced she’d be okay for a little bit, set about cleaning up the desk.

Which do you prefer: a stethoscope or a fetal Doppler? I would recommend getting a Doppler because you can definitely hear a lot more with it! Can’t wait to hear more recordings!

I do quite want a doppler at some point, more toys never hurt :)

I think I prefer a steth, for the more clear sound and because I like the look and feel of a steth more. That said, I’ve never had a chance to try a doppler first hand.

Wow, so lucky! How are both of you doing these days?
