cosplay

I know a lot of you people are into this, so I figured I would mention it: I'm going to an annual Japanese festival tomorrow. They're going to have a cosplay death match. I've never been around cosplay before, let alone a DEATH MATCH. Are these people actually competing, or is it just fun and games? What are the rules, if any? I wonder if they can use foreign objects, like chairs, against their opponent? "Did all you people come here to see the WCW, or did all you people come here to see the NWO!"

Re: cosplay

I've never been around cosplayers either but I don't think a cosplay death match would be anything like an ordinary death match.

E: just looked it up, I guess it's just a tournament to find out who has the best cosplay. Audience applause decides, no fighting. Kind of disappointing, I was going to ask if you could get a video of furries throwing punches.

Re: cosplay

Much like Suicide Girls™, it's disappointingly metaphorical.

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those rap guys' girlfriends.

Re: cosplay

Not enough people wanted to take the bus trip, so it was canceled. The trip was scheduled for the purpose of going to see the Greek Independence Day Parade. The Japanese festival just so happens to be right there, so I decided to go for that reason; I had no interest in seeing a parade. I'm not in the mood to drive an hour, so no cosplay today, but perhaps some heartplay. I was kinda craving Japanese food. Oh well. There's always the Chinese buffet right across the street; they do have good sushi.

Re: cosplay

You know I don't think I've ever had Japanese food. Or heard of Japanese food. What do they eat on that little island besides instant noodles and fish?

Re: cosplay

Ran into a Japanese person on Mastodon earlier today, apparently they eat this which is something that may or may not be exactly salisbury steak (Google translate was iffy and she seemed to think it wasn't salisbury steak, only similar) but I've never had salisbury steak that looks this amazing.

Also TIL that you can use characters that aren't just letters and numbers in website names.

Re: cosplay

Being out of commission for a month and a half is so terrible, I missed two conventions cuz of it.

I do hope that I'll be allowed to come to next weekend's convention. :')) but i am a little sad, my costume and wig might definitely not make it on time.

Re: cosplay

I would like to cosplay and go to a con, but an unpredictable work scedual, little money to spend on costumes and supplies, and social anxiety in large crowds prevent me from going.
