Moved to Site Discussion since this is more about the site than about heartbeats.
Lemme make this real clear right up front: I'm not saying no. I will almost never give you guys a flat out "no." This is your guy's site as much as it is mine, as long as it's possible and reasonable for me to do, I don't have much reason to say "no."
That said, I won't be moderating an adult section. I'm willing to add one, but I won't be participating myself. You'd have to wait for another moderator to come on board who's willing to handle that before I do it.

The "right" answer here is because it's not a sexual thing for me and I don't want to be spending a lot of time in there, but the honest answer mostly because I'm a total dick and I know refusing to do that means it gets delayed which I think would be healthier for the site at this point.
Man, didn't take me long to go full dictator did it? I was hoping I'd last a little longer.

Well, I do agree that it's a little early for that. Maybe when the registration is subject to some kind of approval and the bots and "no-show" users are gone would be a little easier and more interesting to implement.

I think one would be a good idea once the site has more people on it because then for the people that like it in a sexual way can have a place to go and post and talk about that stuff and know they aren't making anyone uncomfortable.

I think an Adult section will become practically necessary at some point and would be a good idea to add in the future, but right now I feel we have different, more urgent priorities, like growing the community, adding features and ironing out bugs.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those rap guys' girlfriends.

The option to show/hide it would be nice as well, so that way the asexual/sexually repulsed people don't have to see if it they don't wish.
Maybe (if you quality obviously) a small checkmark feature on the profiles that can hide/show the adult section? That way if you don't want to see it all the time you can choose to hide it, but then you don't have to worry about PMing an admin or mod to give you adult access for when you /do/ want it.

I think the whole idea behind the "adult" section that we're familiar with and access to it was that it was only opened to people who are not only adults but also contribute to the site decently and are on a 'whitelist' of people who aren't troublemakers. I can see the concern about people who just creep around on the site and are there for purely sexually explicit content. There's a lot of controversy that goes around on who gets to be accepted in and who doesn't, but like, it's a heartbeat community, not a porn site.
Not that I'm strictly against having it just be open and selectable, there's just something reassuring to me when I post adult files on HBP that I know they're not just visible to any guy who signed up 5 minutes ago.
