If I made an option for this under Profile>Display, would it apply just to PMs or everywhere?
I'd rather it just pms.

I should mention that on the right where it talks about the last post in the conversation, you can click the timestamp and it'll warp you to the last post. The same thing works in site searches and actually inside topics. Each post has a timestamp in the top right that you can click for a permalink that warps you directly to the post.

Here's a couple of ideas to spiff up the files section, which I'm sure are on the to-do already, but why not:
Update ffmpeg so that it respects the video orientation flag to prevent upside-down videos.
Configure the thumbnail grabber to grab the first frame that's mostly not black. While I'd originally suggested a couple of seconds in, I do seem to recall that some videos had quite a long near pitch-black "lead in" while, for instance, the phone was being configured or maneuvered into position, or where there's phone-on-chest audio first, video second.
Bump the bitrate up if server space permits. Some videos are shot in less than ideal conditions, and if one thing makes webcam grain so much worse, it's a low bitrate. Afterwards, a resolution option might be nice.
Inline audio player. While it makes sense for the video to navigate out to a different page for ample screen estate, the audio player seems compact enough to just slip in next to the View File button and cut out an entire step.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those rap guys' girlfriends.

that's going to be tricky, I'll give it a shot

done. the bitrate thing, anyway.

Seems reasonable, and fits in well with another feature I have planned.

The PM page needs BBCode/smiley buttons and a preview button, please.

let's have an intro like this.
...open in firefox otherwise it will just open a save.as window because google thought dropping flash support would be a good idea.

If we could choose whether or not to upload files to the gallery we could use the uploading thing as more generic attachments.
Also disallowing comments on your files.
Or limiting comments to your friends, but we don't have a friend's list, at least not yet.

With an item list, automatically place dot points after each new line? Makes lists easier if you've already typed out the whole thing, can highlight it and hit the list button to generate and populate a list with the text. (see example above)

It'd be neat if we could get like
account deactivation
a lot of people want to leave their accounts alone but sometimes end up coming back, I think this would be a nice compromise between "burn it all to the ground" and "just walk away and pretend it doesn't exist anymore"

Or at least, do not convert unicode characters to question marks!
The database backend we use, MySQL, doesn't support multi-byte unicode characters by default, and most emoji fall into that category. It is fixable though.

Ought to be easy enough, albeit keep this in mind:

- that may be quite relevant for newer emojis

Make "Pulse" the homepage (perhaps with some adjustments)?
Everyone is used to a "dashboard" style social media interface these days, so they see everything just scrolling, and need to click only to see what interests them.
And existing homepage is pretty uninformative.

Could we have an option to change our usernames if we wanted to? The user could confirm the change by using their password. Username changes could also have a cooldown period, to prevent confusion from someone changing too quickly between usernames.
