Alright so if I'm not doing anything else then I can feel my heart beating in my chest. But unless my heart is really working hard I only feel one beat. Is that the S1 or S2 that I'm feeling here?

Honestly i have the same issue. But it hapoens at rest. It might be s1 im not too sure. Ask heartbeatlover.

That will be the s1

Is it abnormal though?

It shouldn't be. S1 is the big push of blood from the ventricles to the rest of the body, so it has to be strong. S2 doesn't have to be as strong, although it's heard louder in the upper parts of the chest.

In that case I'm heavily confused. I thought S2 was the ventricles, not S1.

I read online that s1 is from the mitral and tricuspid valves. S2 occurs at the beginning of ventricular systole. That is when the blood flows back to the relaxed ventricles and causes the semilunar valves (mitral and triscupid) to close.
