CHEST compressions

I've often wondered if doing chest compressions on someone who's heart is beating normally is dangerous!
Just curious.
Any ideas?

Re: CHEST compressions

lil bit, yeah.

chest compressions are supposed to get a not-working heart working again. It can easily take out a working heart and make it not-working.

Re: CHEST compressions

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. Seems like some folks on the cardio sites enjoy doing cpr on each other. Probably not a good idea :(

Re: CHEST compressions

Well, a lot of people do compressions, but not nearly enough to be even slightly affecting the heart. Broken ribs are not expected, but they're not unexpected when you're doing chest compressions. You put a lot into it when you're doing it for real. If you tap someone on the chest a few times they're most likely not going to fall over dead.
