Shoutbox

HBP has a shoutbox in their sidebar, can we get a shoutbox in our sidebar? It's like the chatroom but you don't both need to be online at the same time.

And could we get something in the sidebar to show when people are in the chat too?

Re: Shoutbox

Yaaaaaaaas and make its buffer long and scrollable so we don't miss any of the juicy goodness!

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those rap guys' girlfriends.

Re: Shoutbox

I, for one, am against this. Too much drama IMHO

Re: Shoutbox

The shout box gives people a place to simply say whatever is on their mind, as there is no need to create a topic in the forums for random thoughts and questions that can be easily dealt with in a shout box. Random thoughts create conversations, as well as insight into who people are. "Drama" is interesting whether you agree with or support the issue at hand or not. Criticism and questioning somebody's behavior may be deemed as drama, but criticism and questioning is a good thing; how people go about these, and how people react to these is the issue. Everyone handles themselves differently, so the need for an impartial moderator is necessary to deal with a situation that has overstepped boundaries.  The more you let people speak and be who they are, the more you get to see who they really are. I say "let the people speak!"

If I add this, the full history will be viewable.

It's not a fashion statement, it's a deathwish.

Re: Shoutbox

Having the whole history be viewable might get messy if the shoutbox gets long, or hits a spam wave.

Re: Shoutbox

It'd be viewable, just not all from the sidebar. The sidebar would just show the last X messages with a link to see the whole thing.
