And this week we have another, even larger chunk of updates. This week's had two parts: refining the site and finding the stuff you want to see.
Let's start off with the main events.
Up until now, file searching has been pretty difficult. You could search for tags but that was about it, and there wasn't even any way to see what tags existed.
Fortunately, the situation has greatly improved.
The file search page lets you find files however you want, and lets you sort through them however you want. And it comes with this fancy new tag list:
(some tags removed for the photo)
This tag list has also been added to the file upload page.
While the new search page will help you find the stuff you're looking for, hopefully this new home page will be able to show you a thing or two you didn't even know you wanted.

We're already a very lightweight site. In one hour, we use less data than a lot of websites use in a single page load. But there's always room for improvement! Some people still have a *very* limited data budget, and smaller pages means faster loading for the rest of us.
If you want to squeeze out a few extra MB of data, check out the settings in your profile:
This is an ongoing effort but a lot of progress has been made to keeping the site usable for users who want to push the limits on how little data they use.
Polishing the features
The automatic page refreshes now refresh PM notifications and announcements, even on mobile devices.
Searching for usernames now searches for partial matches by default now.
The home page shows if you have new comments on your files, and if other files have new comments.
Duplicate tags are now filtered out when uploading files.
There's now an "Upload new file" button on top of the file gallery.
Added a "Post comment" button at the top of each file's viewing page.
Also added a <3 button right next to the Post comment one.
Fixed a bug with some browsers not liking/unliking if you clicked the <3 button too fast.
Fixed some other bugs with the likes system.
Improved some of the behavior of the likes system for users who have javascript turned off.
New users are now sent a welcoming PM.
Polishing the backend
Site backups are now slightly more redundant, making it more likely H2H will survive the apocalypse.
For later: some framework for faster searching of files has been laid.
Did some optimizations to make several pages load faster.
A lot of general cleanup work was done around the site.
Polishing the visuals
Reached out to some people, decided on setting a softer/darker shade of blue for the light theme's background.
The file viewing page now has the uploader's username and avatar.
Made a few visual adjustments to the search page layout on mobile and desktop.

That's a lot better than that lousy HBP lol
Offline
Maybe, but to be fair up until now we haven't even had any form of file searching beyond just searching tags where HBP has had this kind of advanced file searching for years.
Visiting HBP again for the first time in a while inspired me to improve my own site, and I hope when Mat visits Heart2Heart he gets the same kind of encouragement to make HBP better.
Healthy competition is good for everyone involved!
Oh and in case anyone was wondering here's a before/after comparison of the subtle results of the theming discussions. Ultimately we decided that the new colors are much softer on the eye than the old ones.
If this is still too bright for you though, you can always check out the dark theme in your Display settings.
