Added the ability for site administrators and moderators who aren't me (none of them exist yet, but you gotta be ready for these things) to delete user files.
Improved the way file protection works and at the same time made it *much* less likely to have false positives for stealing or other odd browser behavior. If you've been getting any "Error resource cannot be loaded" messages, they should be gone now. If you're still getting them, please let me know.
Fixed a bug in the file search. Searching for keywords should work again now.

how's aboot the block feature being more blocky
Offline
How do you mean? Did I miss a spot? Right now if you block someone what *should* happen is:
All forum posts are hidden.
Chat messages become invisible.
New PMs are blocked.
Old PMs before the block become invisible.
Not sure if you're looking for something new or if something isn't working right.

Tiny handful of quality of life changes.
Users who only have the chat window open should keep showing up in the online list.
A small "heartbeat" was added to the chat page to let the website know that chatters are still alive and on the site. Will become effective once the person currently in there leaves and returns to the chat.
Added a direct listen link for Chrome users who don't want to re-enter their username and password.
Chrome has broken a feature used to sign into streams automatically, and instead spits out a popup asking users to enter their login details manually. It does this for embedded audio, but not direct links, so if the site detects a failed login it will provide a clickable link as a workaround. An even smoother solution is being looked into.
Fully hidden streams
Fixed a bug where hidden streams would still show up in the Stream (#) count in the navbar.

Had a day free today, used the time to make a few small changes!
The most noticeable change is to the online users list. It's been restructured to include usernames, so that it's not so reliant on avatars that not everyone has. Chat/Streaming indicators are merged in the online list if both are active, it looks a little something like this now:
The site chat now has a mute button, and a setting to mute/unmute in the Profile settings underneath the "Site options" group in the "Essentials" section.
The data-saving options have been moved to a new "Data Savers" group, also in the Essentials section.

Changed the old audio icon to something that I think fits the style of the site a little better:
Like always, I'm not a graphic designer so if you can and are willing to do better PLEASE do.
We also (finally) now have a heart emoticon. I'm not sure how that wasn't the first thing I did when making this place but at least it got there eventually.

Fixed a bug in detecting whether or not a user is blocked when sending PMs that resulted in WAY too many false positives.
Curious, Is there going to be a strike feature for members who harass one another?

For the moment things are being dealt with on a case-by-case basis since our size is small enough to allow it. As we grow I plan to put more tangible limits and lines in place.
But right now I will usually talk to the person myself and give them a chance to correct their own behavior before adding some encouragement of my own by sending them away from the site for a short while depending on what exactly they did. If they still won't play by the rules when they come back, I just have to ask them to leave permanently.
Fortunately that's only needed to happen once so far, with a person who had 0 regard for the rules or the community. As far as I'm aware everyone else I've spoken to has been a lot more pleasant when asked to be.

I know Jasontye never listens to the rules, like allowing porn on his page, the nerve of that creep.

HeartLover1990, please be respectful and don't try to spark drama. Jasontye posted something (once) that was honestly borderline. I had to consider for a while how to even deal with it, and after I chose to remove it he gladly stopped when asked. Like I said, at our size this system works well.
Please stop this campaign of yours. If anyone breaks a rule, report the post/message/file and it will be dealt with. If you can't point out a broken rule and an offending post/file/message, there's nothing I can do. Thank you.

After some thinking I decided to make the new PM sound play even on new page loads. Before, it would only play along with the page refreshes on already-loaded pages. But I decided to remove that exception because it might be confusing to have the inconsistency.

Some small usability changes have been going on over the past week or so, now seems like a good time to dump it all in here.
Bug fixed on mobile where usernames in PMs became white and blended in with the background.
Bug fixed where files and discussions with REALLY long names would run right out of their box.
Site is now able to handle video files with no audio/video and converts them to the right format.
Bug fixed on mobile where there was an empty space that shouldn't have existed.

For anyone wondering about the downtime earlier today, that was a little bit of scheduled maintenance from our provider whose schedule crept up on me while I wasn't looking at it.
Idk if any of you have heard of it, but our server should now be safe against the Spectre and Meltdown bugs.

Some small improvements and cleanups have been made.
The site now handles videos with odd resolutions in a way that every browser can enjoy.
Videos are now encoded at a higher quality, at the cost of a little more processing time.
The chatting and streaming indicators have returned to the forum view.
Some general cleanup of the stylesheets that should have no visible impact.
The "Unsubscribe" feature of PMs now has its own button in the topic view. Previously it was hidden behind the "Mark Multiple PMs" button in the inbox view, which wasn't very intuitive.
The "Mark Multiple PMs" button in the inbox has become "Manage PMs."

Woke up and can't get back to sleep so I shipped a number of small stylistic fixes and improvements for mobile users.
Also trying to figure out how I could possibly fit the sidebar anywhere but the bottom of the page because it shows the pulse of the site and should be easily accessible.
But I'm probably not going to get anywhere with that before I pass out again. Can't just throw it up top because then that pushes the actual content down really far. Can't hide it behind some collapsible button or whatever because that's really screwy and the menu is already doing that anyway. Maybe that's it, maybe I could just add it to the menu. Would that be horrible?
Does anyone even open the menu on their phones? I don't think I do. Back button is all I need most of the time.
Now that I'm looking at the menu there's just so much STUFF here.

Fixed an odd issue where some supporting services for the one-click streaming button were trying to chew up 100% CPU, making file processing go much slower. They have been tamed so everything should be much more responsive.
A security issue was found and fixed.
A bug was fixed regarding some weird complicated video encoding stuff that made certain videos unplayable for certain browsers if they were made in a certain way.
Videos still undergo a little extra processing after they become viewable so that they're available in the highest quality. Now there's a little message until the file is 100% complete.
There's also a new button in the post editor. The site now supports embedding posts and files from YouTube, Google Drive, and Tumblr. More will be coming with that soon so I won't go into it much now.

A few small fixes and improvements for the evening.
Added new submissions to the Pulse to the recent activity summary on the home page.
Modified the wording of the "access denied" message for guests.
Added thewyrdguy's suggestion to pre-fill the upload form with the uploader's gender.
Deleting files now also takes out the comments thread if it's empty.
