Maybe I could re-word the "Tell us about your heart" section to be more of a generic "Tell us about you and hearts" section. Would that work?

Good idea.

I'm asexual but not sex-repulsed. Its nice to see others who are non-sexual cardiophiles.

Re: Being A Non-Sexual Cardiophile...

I can fully appreciate where everyone is coming from, but from a personal point of view I can't change the fact that it is a sexual thing for me any more than I can change the fact I prefer cats to dogs. If you're chatting to someone, I guess the trick is to make sure you find out what their preference is before sending any conversation in one direction or another. Which I do my best to do. I don't find "dark heart" stuff in any way interesting but it doesn't mean that others shouldn't. As I said, fully appreciate the sentiments and not looking to start any sort of war, but everyone has their viewpoint.

Re: Being A Non-Sexual Cardiophile...

I blame the internet for turning my interest into something sexual. If it wasn't for casually looking up random heart material when I got my first computer just to be greeted with heartbeatbabes.com, I don't think that my interest would've turned sexual. But then again, I don't know, because I do recall that I would sometimes get aroused while listening to my own heartbeat or while hearing heartbeat sound effects on movies and TV shows when I was a preteen. I thought it was really awkward at first, but then I just learned to accept it and come to the realization that that's how my body just reacts when hearing a heartbeat. It doesn't happen every single time that I hear a heartbeat, but I would say that 8 times out of 10 I'll get excited when hearing a heartbeat given the right circumstances. For it to be 100%  completely sexual for me, it just depends on what's happening in the scenario (nudity, sexual activity). Now I can finally understand why it's indeed embarrassing to me when hearing a heartbeat in public or even having a discussion about it. The one user who made the comment about it being embarrassing definitely hit the nail on the head. I think for a lot of us that do find it sexual do find it embarrassing to talk about it in public because it's a huge part of our private sexual lives. And our private sexual lives isn't something that most people would discuss with others on a daily basis, if at all, unless it's with someone that you can absolutely trust. It is possible though for me to listen without getting aroused because it is very relaxing and makes you want to fall asleep when listening.

I understand a lot of non-sexual cardiophiles' frustrations with not being able to find many outlets for their interest without the sexual stuff involved. Having an interest in the heart is just a rare thing in general. Unless you're studying to become a doctor, nurse, cardiologist or surgeon, you're rarely going to find non-sexual heartbeat material. The only places that I know of that are 100% non-sexual are legitimate medical research websites. I feel bad for all of you non-sexual cardiophiles, I really do, because I know how it feels when you're trying to search for certain things only to get bombarded with a bunch of unwanted material  I do hope all of you non-sexual cardiophiles find what you're looking. But in my personal opinion, when you really sit down and think about it, regardless of what your stance is on being a cardiophile (sexual or not), it's kind of impossible to not think of the heart as being sexual because the heart is one of the main things in our bodies that is definitely needed and plays a huge part during sexual activity. Without out a heart, no man would ever be able to get an erection and a woman wouldn't be able get aroused as well. Not only that, but the heart doesn't lie. You are able to tell if you're actually satisfying your partner just by listening to find out whether or not their heart rate is increasing.

Re: Being A Non-Sexual Cardiophile...

Another predominantly non-sexual cardiophile here.

I mean, sometimes my interest in the heart can add something to situations that are already getting sexual, but it's far from the be-all-end-all of my interest.  In fact, it's hardly part of it at all.  At one time I preferred to call myself a "heartbeat enthusiast" rather than a cardiophile because so many people who do use "cardiophile" as an identity tag tend to be very sexual about it.  "Heartbeat enthusiast" seems more neutral, but I suspect that I'm really the only person who used it—regularly, at least—so over time, I've gradually switched to "cardiophile."  I love learning things about the heart itself, and heartbeats are basically a kind of music to me.  So, yeah, sometimes I'm kind of put off by the sheer amount of extremely sexual stuff related to cardiophilia that tends to pop up (er, no lewd joke intended) in cardiophile spaces.

That said, I can generally put up with it pretty well.  It doesn't offend me.  It just usually does nothing for me.  I mean, I'm kind of odd in that I don't see nakedness as being inherently pornographic anyway, which is why people of any gender stething themselves or other people bare chested or even completely naked won't always strike me as something that's meant to turn people on.  As long as they're not obviously having sex I can be surprisingly oblivious about that, and I can appreciate the aesthetic of quite a few of the picture posts on Tumblr, which for some while has been my most significant place for engaging with other people who are cardiophiles—even though I've occasionally grumbled about the way that multiple "HERE HAVE LOTS OF BARE BOOBS WITH STETHS!!!" posts tend to show up when I'm scrolling through Tumblr and another person walks into the room!

But I have to admit that I skip most of the stories because they're written for cardiofetishists, not people like me whose cardiophilia isn't really part of our sexual identity or preferences.  And that's fine.  Sometimes things just aren't for you.  There's no reason why other people can't enjoy them as long as nobody's getting hurt.  I'm just not part of the intended audience, that's all.

Can't relate but Anime has a ton of non sexual heart related stuff in the shows. It's not a thing that matters to me as I found what I like. Took years to aquire the collection I have.

Its kind of sexual for me. Kind of. But like the person above me, its a lot better when hearts and eroticism such as pornography and nudity are kept seprate from one another. My main point is that most cardiophiles, especaily on HBP and Tumblr, fail to know or see that not everyone veiws it as a fetish or are not into specificly what they are into.

This is about how I feel about it as well. I'm not going to lie, I do think there's something really sexy about being close to someone you love and feeling or hearing their heart pound.  But that's only a part of it for me. It kind of depends on the context, if that makes any sense.

I don't think there's anything wrong necessarily with it being somebody's kink. As long as you aren't hurting or harassing people, you do you. It's just, that's the big problem. Most people can't seem to stop harassing or bothering people about it that would rather not be bothered (and sorry fellas, but the perpetrators of this behavior are almost 100% male). It's to a point now where I'm loath to even say anything to anybody here or in any other group, lest I come off as some kind of creep.

It's kind of sad, to be honest. At one point I had joined one of these communities in the hope that I'd find a like-minded lady and maybe something would come of it. I realize now, that is never going to happen. Any of the hundreds of women who were driven away from HBP will be able to tell you why.

Not True at all. More than 5 girls have done it to me. I just didn't care as much and just stopped talking to them lol. They just seem to lurk so you don't notice them. =3

I can relate..I ended up deleting my Tumblr due to all the sexual posts..basically unless porn is what you are looking for Tumblr isn't a place for those who aren't into the perversion that many post on there.

Eh, I haven't deleted my tumblr but I've had to take special care to only follow SFW blogs. There's so few of them though.

Re: Being A Non-Sexual Cardiophile...

I lean to the sexual side to cardiophila and any one who knows me from HBP can attest that I have output some erotic heart related animations on a rather massive scale. However i try to carry my self as a gentleman of sorts and try my hardest not to come off as a creep(which has been met with mixed success). Also for the record the animations I have done are tame quite tame compared to some of the perverse stuff you can find on tumblr and such.

Re: Being A Non-Sexual Cardiophile...

I don't mind if people have a sexual enjoyment of hearts, but I'm personally not interested in sexual content. I listen to heartbeat recordings out of curiosity and appreciate them as a type of music. I enjoy the biological, emotional, historical/cultural and artistic aspects of the heart.
