I used to do a science degree, but graduated a little while ago. I've been interested in hearts for a very long time and like almost everything about them. But I haven't shared or discussed this interest with anyone before. So yeah, I'll see how I go from here ^_^

Not a clue - in early childhood, I was quite disgusted by any such thing. Then I suddenly, inexplicably, changed when I found myself developing an interest in women in swimwear, and suddenly I wanted to hear a woman's heartbeat when I saw her image in a paper wearing a swimsuit with a window cut in the chest. :/
We were staying at a relatives house and I just had to try a stethoscope my brothers found in the junk at their place upon my female cousins. Nothing I could think of got any real results at all. The one I had at home made from bits I found worked better.
Mediate auscultation for me; if there is a stethoscope available it provides more chances to attempt to convince people to play with it with you. Cramming your head sideways into someone's cleavage takes far more convincing.

It was like a personal goal being fulfilled. Such that I can't quite remember how the beat went, only the enchantment of having achieved the task.
The first time I got to hear it with a commercially-made stethoscope, though, it was palpitating madly!
Earliest I can remember, is feeling my heartbeat in bed when 12/13.
I would soon make a stethoscope out of a funnel, tape, and aquarium filter air tube.
Streets Ice Cream had a series of ads featuring heartbeat sounds, as a woman opened an ice cream on the bus, with a cartoon heart in the shape of the company logo beating out of her chest at the end. Another had a bunch of youths sending shockwaves from their heartbeats as they ate the icecreams in a forest to blow each other off their feet, for thrills.
I just decided to join tonight, because HBP doesn't do it for me any more. Not because of how crazy and messed-up I keep hearing it is. The site simply will not work... Ever.... on my computer.

I first found out a way to hear my own heart roughly 12 years ago.
I’ll never forget that exhilarating moment when i heard the organ that i read about in the science books was actually inside me and doing its job. i was fascinated.
i wondered then, could there possibly be a group of people that would feel the same way as i do? i never would have guessed then i would be joining an online community full of people that would share the same interests as i.
or so i thought
despite the many kind hearted friends i have met through this community, it seems with each passing hour i see this fascination is the breeding grounds for rapists, creeps, stalkers, and pedophiles alike.
you all disgust me. how dare you, ruin the appreciation of life for my friends and i.
